Why We Offer Private Pay

Our goal is to assist you in getting the mental health care you want and deserve while protecting your privacy and helping you to avoid any potential negative stigma. This is one of the important reasons that we only accept Kaiser NW insurance, Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance and private pay.

In order for insurance to cover the costs of therapy, you have to be given a Mental Disorder Diagnosis. This diagnosis will become a permanent part of your medical record. How does this affect you? If you are a person applying for a job that requires a background check, adopting a child, or purchasing life insurance, the Mental Disorder Diagnosis may be seen. This may be no problem for you or you may prefer not to disclose a diagnosis. We want you to have that choice.

Additionally, we find that pre-authorization and pre-conceived treatment algorithms designed by insurance companies to manage costs don’t always meet the individual needs of our clients.

Because of these core beliefs, it’s important for you to know that we only accept Kaiser NW insurance. We are out-of-network providers with all other insurance plans.

This means a few vital things for you:

(1) The full fee for each service is due at the time the service is provided

(2) We are happy to support you in seeking insurance reimbursement by providing a statement (superbill) that reflects the services we provided. You will need to follow up with your insurance company as we are unable to file this claim for you.

(3) In order to know if your insurance will provide reimbursement we advise that you contact your insurance company to understand your individual out-of-network benefits prior to receiving services. Some companies may reimburse 90% while others may reimburse 0%.

Cancellation Policy

Because we have scheduled this time specifically for you, we require you notify us by phone or email at least 24 hours in advance to cancel an appointment. Failure to provide 24 hours of notice of cancellation will result in you being charged the full cost of the session.
